Her Story ~ My Story: Creating Your Timeline

By Central Women Online Media Team

Welcome to Her Story~My Story.

Your story is unique only to you and your life. No one else knows the details of your past. The happenings do not change, but what you do with them can. We encourage you to listen to or watch the teaching podcast that introduces the concepts that have been life-changing to many and can be life-changing to you. Owning your past, both the peaks and the valleys of your life, is the start.

The introductory teaching podcast will aid you in making a timeline of your life, pinpointing the major events that have been energy-giving and the life events that have been very difficult.

After the initial teaching video, there will be shorter Her Story Chats, where each week a different woman will share her story of how Jesus helped her to walk through difficulty in her life. This will give you an opportunity to ask yourself questions about your own life. Remember, we are women journeying together to figure out how to be disciples of Jesus in our everyday life.

TW Disclaimer: This series we will be talking about sensitive, real life, issues that many women experience. Please be mindful where, when and with whom you are listening.

The following are Scripture reminders of how much you are loved by Jesus.

  • God created you. Psalm 139:13-16
  • He has always had plans for you. Jeremiah 29:11-13
  • He doesn’t want you to worry. Matthew 6:25-34
  • He renews your strength when you get weary. Isaiah 40:28-3
  • He wants you to trust Him. Proverbs 3:5-7
  • He wants to give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4

We invite you to lean into your journey with God. Think about the highs and lows of your life: the peaks and the valleys.

Embrace all parts of your story.

Choose to use your life events (even the hardest ones) as an opportunity to do life the best way, WITH God, using the reality of your past.

Your story does not change. What you do with it can.

In prayer, open your hands in a receiving posture and embrace your story. Ask God to help you use it for His purposes.

During this series we recommend reflecting on your timeline, listen to the weekly Her Story Chats, and listen to The Highlands: Song of Ascent by Hillsong United. Ask God to draw you nearer to Him through your peaks and through your valleys. Listen intently as to how the words relate to your own unique life story.

Going Deeper:

  • In a serene environment read in John 10:11-18 about how the Good Shepherd takes care of His sheep. Think about how your Good Shepherd takes care of you. (Psalm 37:3-4 above … He wants to give you the desires of your heart).
  • Read the book of Ruth in the Old Testament and see how leaning into trials changed the lives of both Naomi and Ruth. (This was highlighted in the introductory teaching of this series).
  • Read the story of Joseph focusing on how he was neglected and unheard of for years, but God intervened. (Starting in Genesis 37).
  • Other suggestions: Read about Job, Tamar, or Rahab.
  • Keep a journal as you spend time with us each week. This is a great way to reflect on how God is changing you from the inside out as you lean into your past.

“Your past does not restrict you from making godly ripples in the future.”

Join us for next week’s Her Story Chat as Linh Bashara shares her personal story of dealing with Mental Illness.
